Add a Course Forum

OVERVIEW

The Forum activity allows students and teachers to exchange ideas by posting comments or uploading media files as part of a 'thread'.
USE CASE EXAMPLE:

Facilitating Collaborative Learning and Discussion

Scenario: A company uses an LMS to provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities to its internal staff members. To enhance the learning experience and encourage knowledge sharing, the company incorporates course forums within the LMS.

Solution: The company sets up course-specific forums for various training modules, where staff members can engage in discussions, ask questions, share insights, and collaborate on learning materials.

ADD A FORUM ACTIVITY

Step 1: In the relevant course, click on "Edit course material."

Step 2: Under the relevant module, click on "Add course content."

Step 3: Click on the "Forum" activity.

Step 4: Give your forum a name and decide on the most appropriate forum type.

Forum Types:
  1. A single simple discussion: single discussion topic which everyone can reply to (cannot be used with separate groups).
  2. Each person posts one discussion: each learner can post exactly one new discussion topic, which everyone can then reply to.
  3. Q and A forum: learners must first post their perspectives before viewing other learners' posts.
  4. Standard forum displayed in a blog-like format: open forum where anyone can start a new discussion at any time, and in which discussion topics are displayed on one page with "Discuss this topic" links.
  5. Standard forum for general use: open forum where anyone can start a new discussion at any time.

Step 5: Optionally, define attachment and word count, subscription and tracking, and access settings, as well as add tags.

Once you're happy, click on "Save..." to save your changes.

ONLINE INTERACTION WITH COURSE FORUM

Course instructors and learners can now interact with the online forum, add text, images, video, and a lot more using the built-in text editor.
